Hector Grave came to New Bedford from Guatemala at age 14 and went to work on the waterfront. He worked for several years at gillnet companies until starting his own business, Lionel's Nets, which makes and repairs gillnets.

Yo lo hago no tanto por dinero, sino que lo hago por la pasión de mi trabajo, porque me gusta hacer y mi filosofía es calidad, me entiende, no mi importa mucha cantidad, sino es por calidad, y la mayoría de la gente lo hace por cantidad y no por calidad.

I do this not so much for the money but for my passion for this work, I like what I do, my philosophy is quality, understand? I don't care as much about the quantity. But for the quality, the majority of people do (netmaking) for quantity and not for quality.
