Pablo Sam immigrated to New Bedford from Guatemala in 2004. He works at Bergie's Seafood where he started as a fish cutter and has become a machine operator and a mechanic maintaining more than fifty percent of the machines at the plant.

Puedo cortar pescado también con cuchillo con la mano, es difícil porque pescados chiquitos tiene que filar bien los cuchillos y si no filar bien no pase el cuchillo en el filte...Tiene que tener cuidado porque para cortar fácil uno se corta y cundo corta a la mano es un poco peligroso...yo casi no me ha pasado nada gracias a dios si porque a veces se mira peligroso pero dios me esta ayudando entonces no me ha pasado nada.

I can cut fish too, with a knife by hand, it is hard because with small fish, the knife needs to be very sharp and if it is not sharp the knife doesn't go through the fillet...You have to be very careful because it is very easy to cut yourself and when you cut your hand it can be dangerous...thank God nothing has happened to me. Sometimes it looks kind of dangerous, but God is helping me so that nothing (bad) happens.
