Sebastian Ayala is originally from San Sebastiano, El Salvador. He came to New Bedford twenty years ago. He has been working at NORPEL (a herring company) for almost fifteen years, working his way up to a position as foreman.

I worked for a few companies here around New Bedford ...the first job when I come was picking fish up, making sure the quality of the fish is good. Why come to USA? Because it (has) more opportunity...it helps my father, my mother, my family...
